MyPetCare Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
MyPetCare (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the MyPetCare mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use MyPetCare, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your email address and password. You may optionally provide your full name, profile photo, and a short bio.
Pet and Health Data
We store information you add about your pets — names, species, breeds, birthdays, photos, medical history, vaccinations, medications, reminders, vet encounters, and uploaded medical documents.
Audio Recordings and Transcripts
When you record a vet encounter or use voice chat with the Fetch assistant, the audio is captured on your device and transmitted to Soniox (see Section 4) for transcription. The resulting transcript is stored on our servers alongside the original encounter. You control when recordings are made and may delete them at any time.
AI Conversation Data
When you chat with our AI assistant or use the Fetch agent, your messages, conversation context, pet context, and saved interests may be sent to OpenAI (see Section 4) to generate responses. Conversation history is stored on our servers so you can revisit past sessions.
Location Data
The Service Locator feature uses your device location to find nearby vets, parks, and pet services. Location is used only while you interact with that feature and is not continuously tracked.
Usage and Device Information
We may collect standard technical data such as device type, operating system version, app version, and error logs to help us diagnose issues and improve the app.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve the core features of MyPetCare (pet profiles, health tracking, AI assistant, Fetch agent, service locator, community).
- Personalize recommendations and content based on your pets and interests.
- Store and sync your data across sessions so you can access it from any device.
- Manage your subscription and process payments through RevenueCat and Apple/Google billing.
- Send app-related notifications (reminders, meetup alerts) if you have enabled them.
- Detect and fix technical errors.
4. Third-Party Services That Receive Your Data
MyPetCare shares certain data with the following third-party service providers. Each provider’s privacy practices govern how they handle your data.
OpenAI (AI Assistant and Fetch Agent)
Your chat messages, conversation context, pet details, and interests are sent to OpenAI’s API to generate responses. We use the API with settings that instruct OpenAI not to retain your inputs for model training. Review OpenAI’s privacy policy.
Soniox (Audio Transcription)
Audio recordings of vet encounters and voice chat are sent to Soniox’s API for speech-to-text transcription. Soniox processes your audio to produce a text transcript, which is then returned to us and stored in your account. Review Soniox’s privacy policy.
Supabase (Database and Storage)
Your account data, pet profiles, health records, recordings, transcripts, and all other app content are stored on Supabase’s secure cloud infrastructure. Supabase processes your data solely to provide storage services. Review Supabase’s privacy policy.
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
Your user ID and subscription events are shared with RevenueCat to track your subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat does not receive your audio, transcripts, or AI conversations. Review RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Google Maps (Service Locator)
Search queries and approximate location are sent to Google Maps Platform to find nearby pet services. Review Google’s privacy policy.
Apple App Store / Google Play
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple or Google billing systems. These platforms collect payment and transaction data according to their own privacy policies.
5. Your Consent to AI and Recording Features
Before you use the AI assistant, the Fetch agent, or vet encounter recording for the first time, the app presents a clear disclosure explaining what data will be sent to OpenAI and Soniox and asks for your explicit consent. You may decline, in which case these features will not be available. Your consent is recorded on your account and can be reviewed in Settings.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual pets, recordings, documents, or conversations at any time within the app. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings and select “Delete Account.” Requests are processed promptly and data is removed from our active systems. Note that third-party providers (OpenAI, Soniox) may have their own retention periods for data transmitted to them; please review their policies.
7. Data Security
All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Data at rest is stored on Supabase with Row Level Security enforced, meaning your data is only accessible to your own account. We do not sell your personal data.
8. Children’s Privacy
MyPetCare is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the account promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
